Julie has been a pioneering figure in sports broadcasting, breaking gender barriers in a field traditionally dominated by men. She has not only made remarkable strides in her career but has also been a vocal advocate for diversity and inclusion in the industry. With over two decades of experience as a sports journalist, Julie has worked in several top U.S. markets including Miami, New York City, Boston, and Washington DC, covering major events including four Olympic Games.
Julie is currently an anchor/reporter for WTTG FOX5 DC. She recently served as SVP of Broadcast for the Washington Commanders as the first hire of change during a most tumultuous time for the franchise. She was pivotal in helping change the culture of not only her department but the organization as a whole. On top of her leadership duties, for four seasons she was a permanent member of the game day radio broadcast, making her the first female to be a regular on-air member of an NFL radio broadcast booth. This achievement led Sports Illustrated to name her one of the top 50 Most Powerful Women in Sports that year.”

Julie Donaldson is a freelance anchor and reporter. She joined FOX5 DC in December 2024. She made the switch to news after making history as the first female regular on-air member of an NFL radio broadcast booth, serving four seasons with the Washington Commanders’ gameday radio team. As Senior Vice President of Media and Content for three seasons, she led the franchise’s broadcast and editorial operations, assembling and managing a talented team while shaping the organization’s creative vision.
Before joining the Commanders, Julie spent a decade at NBC Sports Washington, covering major teams and events in the D.C. and Baltimore region. She hosted Emmy-winning NFL pregame and postgame shows and contributed to national and international coverage, including four Olympic Games (2012–2018).
Julie is a board member for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, reflecting her commitment to community and advocacy. A University of Florida alumna, she is an avid outdoor enthusiast who enjoys working out, boxing, biking, and reading a good book. She has a 16-year-old Maltese, Lucy. Her career began in Miami with FOX Sports and the Miami Heat, followed by roles in New York City, Boston, and Washington, D.C., solidifying her legacy as a trailblazer in sports media.
